How We Help

Legal Help

Justice, healing, and safety for survivors.

CHANA seeks justice and legal resolutions with victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual abuse and elder abuse. CHANA’s legal advocates provide information and support to those who have experienced all types of abuse. The more educated and well-versed victims become, the more empowered they are to make informed decisions while navigating the judicial system.

CHANA’s legal help services include:

  • Making referrals to volunteer attorneys or private attorneys when necessary.
  • Collaborating with attorneys to ensure that clients maintain their right to self-determination while examining the safety implications of all legal options are examined.
  • Assisting clients as they prepare for court, including victim impact statements and testifying.
  • Provide support throughout the entire legal process, including accompanying clients to court proceedings, providing legal guidance, and advocating for clients.
  • Working closely with Beit Din, the Jewish legal arbitration system.
  • Assessing and monitoring the safety implications of all legal options.
