Melissa Cohen, a busy working mother of five, was looking for a way to give to CHANA that would have an immediate impact on its clients. As her time is limited, she decided like any Jewish mother would, that feeding families was the perfect way to go.

Three years ago, Melissa started by asking her friends to sign up weekly to provide a full meal up using the free website, Take Them a Meal. She also had those friends ask their friends and within no time, her network grew to about 40 families participating each year.

Melissa now sends out a monthly email to the participating families to have them pick their week preferences. The kosher meals are delivered to the CHANA offices every Tuesday by Melissa’s husband Ivan and their youngest child Noa, who looks forward to her weekly visits with the staff.

Melissa wants the clients to know that “your community is with you and you are not alone. There is always someone who wants to help.”
